Welcome to Bespoke IT Solutions, Rex Shorey

Strengthening our expertise in technology strategy, cloud, cyber security and infrastructure.

We’re delighted to welcome Rex Shorey to Bespoke IT Solutions as our new Associate Enterprise Architect. Rex joins Bespoke with a wealth of experience across technology strategy, Microsoft Azure, cyber security, managed services, infrastructure transformation and governance. Throughout his career, Rex has worked with complex, regulated and international organisations, helping them make important technology decisions and turn those decisions into secure, resilient and practical solutions.

What particularly excites us about Rex joining Bespoke isn’t simply the technology he knows. It’s his understanding of how technology needs to work for the business behind it.

From technology problems to business decisions

Technology has become fundamental to almost every organisation. Cloud infrastructure, cyber security, Microsoft 365, AI, business continuity, data and connectivity are no longer isolated IT decisions. Increasingly, they are interconnected business decisions. And that creates some important questions:
  • What technology should we actually be investing in?
  • What genuinely needs replacing or improving?
  • Where are the biggest technology and security risks?
  • Are we paying for technology we don’t really need?
  • Will the decisions we make today still make sense as our organisation grows?
This is where the experience of an Enterprise Architect becomes particularly valuable. Rex brings the ability to step back and look at the wider technology picture, understanding how systems, infrastructure, security requirements and business objectives fit together before helping create a clear way forward.

“What does your business need from technology over the next few years?”

Serious experience in Microsoft Azure

Cloud technology is an important part of Rex’s background. At Finova, Rex defined Microsoft Azure architecture blueprints and cost models for core banking applications and led five client transitions into managed Azure environments. Earlier in his career, Rex also architected the first Microsoft Azure-hosted UK banking platform using approved components.

Why does that matter for our clients?

Cloud strategy is about much more than moving servers or applications. Organisations need to consider security, resilience, management, cost and how cloud technology supports their wider business objectives.

Rex’s experience adds further depth to Bespoke’s ability to have those bigger conversations, helping clients understand where cloud fits within their wider technology strategy and what they actually need it to achieve.

Cyber security with a wider perspective

Cyber security is another significant part of Rex’s experience. His previous work includes advancing SOC/SIEM capability, privileged access and immutable backup, alongside strengthening organisational governance and achieving Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation while Head of IT at C.H.O.I.C.E. This brings an important perspective to Bespoke.

Effective cyber security isn’t about buying as many security products as possible. It’s about understanding risk and making sure security works alongside your people, infrastructure, business continuity and wider objectives.

For our clients, Rex’s experience will help us continue building that broader view of cyber security, looking not only at individual solutions but at how the different elements of an organisation’s technology environment work together.

Building technology that keeps businesses running

Resilience is another recurring theme throughout Rex’s career. His experience includes delivering secure banking and mortgage platforms with sub-four-hour continuity commitments and maintaining 99.99% service availability across UK and international operations. As Head of IT at C.H.O.I.C.E., Rex also helped enable business continuity throughout the pandemic while strengthening governance, service management and infrastructure across the organisation.

It raises some important questions for any business:

  • What happens if a critical system becomes unavailable?
  • How quickly could the organisation recover?
  • Is important information adequately protected?
  • Where are the dependencies within the business?
  • Are backup and recovery arrangements appropriate?
  • Could technology become a single point of failure?

Microsoft 365 and infrastructure transformation

Rex also brings practical experience of large-scale technology transformation. Among his previous projects is an 800-user Microsoft 365 migration with single sign-on, alongside wider infrastructure standardisation and modernisation programmes. A successful Microsoft 365 strategy isn’t simply about providing people with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint or OneDrive. Organisations need to think about how technology is managed, secured and integrated into the way their employees actually work. Rex’s combination of strategic and practical experience strengthens our ability to help clients look beyond individual products and consider their technology environment as a whole.

What does Rex joining mean for Bespoke clients?

For our existing clients, Rex’s appointment adds another layer of senior technical and strategic expertise to the Bespoke team.

As those businesses grow, change or face increasingly complex technology decisions, we want to be able to support them throughout that journey.

Cloud Strategy Cyber Security Infrastructure Microsoft 365 Business Continuity Technology Strategy

For new clients, it also strengthens our ability to engage with organisations whose requirements extend beyond traditional outsourced IT support.

Enterprise expertise. SME accessibility.

Not every business needs an Enterprise Architect working for them full-time.

But growing organisations can still face enterprise-level technology questions.

Having access to that expertise through a trusted technology partner can help organisations approach those decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

Technology strategy without technology for technology’s sake

Perhaps one of the most important aspects of Rex’s background is his track record of aligning technology investment with business priorities. It’s an approach that fits naturally with how we see technology at Bespoke. We don’t believe businesses should adopt technology simply because it is new. Whether we’re talking about AI, Microsoft 365, cloud, cyber security, infrastructure or automation, the starting point should always be the same:

What are we trying to achieve as a business?

Once that is understood, technology decisions become much clearer. Rex’s experience in turning strategic ambition into practical operational outcomes will help us develop that approach even further.

The next stage for Bespoke IT Solutions

Rex joining the team represents another step in the continued development of Bespoke IT Solutions. Excellent day-to-day IT support will always be fundamental to what we do. But our clients increasingly need conversations that go beyond fixing today’s problems.
  • They need help understanding cyber risk.
  • They need guidance around cloud and Microsoft technologies.
  • They need help identifying where AI and automation genuinely add value.
  • They need technology plans that support future growth.
  • And sometimes they need an experienced person around the table who can challenge assumptions and simplify complex decisions.
That’s exactly the kind of capability Rex brings to the Bespoke team.

Welcome to Team Bespoke

Welcome aboard, Rex!

We’re incredibly pleased to have Rex on board and excited about the additional experience, knowledge and strategic thinking he brings to Bespoke IT Solutions and our clients.

Great people. Better technology decisions. Brighter futures.

Bespoke IT Solutions helps businesses make sense of technology through managed IT support, cyber security, Microsoft cloud solutions and strategic technology guidance.
